So put on your dirtiest clothes and grab a flashlight! Or have a professional look into it for you. You’re looking for any signs of water damage or pooling as well as for any mold. You’ll also want to check for any signs of rodent or insect infestations.

Why Water buildup in a crawlspace is an extremely common problem that, unfortunately, is very difficult to fix and can have lasting repercussions. Preemption is the key. Mold, fungus, and rust are the outcomes you are trying to avoid by being proactive. How Put on your dirtiest clothes, grab a flashlight, and get on in there!
Take note of any pooling of water on the ground. Take a look at as many surfaces as are accessible to you and inspect for any water damage. Is any wood warped or water stained? Are any of the wood beams cracked or sagging? Do you see any mold or fungus that has accumulated on the wood or on foundation walls? All of these issues require attention as soon as possible. Treating the symptoms (fungus, mold, etc) are generally not enough, however. You must treat the water problems and that is best done by calling a professional plumber to come out and take a look.
